| 1. Wičháša yámni k’uŋ hená waná iyáyapi na Sodom étkiya yápi kta čha Abraham opčébyela ób yé. Yuŋkĥáŋ Itĥáŋčhaŋ kiŋ hekíye: "Sodom na Gomorrha otĥúŋwahepi kiŋ šil’óĥ’aŋpi kiŋ hé líla onáĥ’uŋ šíčiŋ na tĥawó’aĥtanipi kiŋ hená líla tĥáŋka áya čha iháŋgwičhawayiŋ kte ló," eyé. | The aforesaid three men now left and were going towards Sodom, so for a little while Abraham went with them. Then the Lord said this to him: "The towns of Sodom and Gomorrah are acting badly. That is very bad to hear, and their sins are becoming very big, therefore I will destroy them". |
| 2. Yuŋkĥáŋ Abraham ikĥówičhakičipĥe hiŋglé. Ičhíŋ wičháša kiŋ hená líla šíčapi, k’éyaš ób kičhíkhiyela thí kiŋ uŋ kĥoláwičhaye. | Then Abraham suddenly became fearful for them. Because although those men were very bad, he lived close to them and so he had them as friends. |
| 3. Na oglígle-wakĥáŋ núm kĥoháŋ iyáyapi él Abraham Wakĥáŋtĥaŋka khušéya inážiŋ na hekíye: "Wičháša waštépi na šíčapi kiŋ iyúpĥaĥ iháŋgwičhayayiŋ kta hwo? Uŋgná wičháša owótĥaŋla wikčémna záptaŋ otĥúŋwahe kiŋ él úŋpi hená kĥó t’ápi kta hwo? Tokĥáš henákečapi, yuŋkĥáŋ iháŋgyayiŋ kte šni séče." | And meanwhile the two sacred messengers left, then Abraham stood in God's way and said to him "Will you destroy good men and bad men altogether? Maybe fifty honest men live in the town, will those too die? Perhaps there are such, then you might not destroy it". |
| 4. "Ho-wo, čha otĥúŋwahe kiŋ él wičháša owótĥaŋla wikčémna záptaŋ iyéwičhawaye eháŋtaŋš, tĥáŋtaŋhaŋpi uŋ wawíhaŋgye šni iyópteya iblámni kte ló," ekíye. | "Well, if I find fifty honest men in the town, because of them I will not destroy it and will go across" he said. |
| 5. "Na uŋgná wikčémna záptaŋ él úŋpi šni, tkĥá wikčémna tób sáŋm záptaŋ ečé úŋpi kiŋ, iníhaŋ šni otĥúŋwahe kiŋ iháŋgyayiŋ kta hwo?" | "And maybe if fifty men don't live there, but only forty-five do, heeding not will you destroy the town?" |
| 6. Yuŋkĥáŋ hekíye: "Wičháša wikčémna tób sáŋm záptaŋ owótĥaŋla iyéwičhawakiye kiŋháŋ, oyás’iŋ ni’úŋpi kte ló," eyé. | And then God said, "If I find forty-five honest men, all will live". |
| 7. Héčhel Abraham Wakĥáŋtĥaŋka ičhékiya-haŋ, čhaŋkhé óhaŋketa hekíye: "Otĥúŋwahe kiŋ él wičháša owótĥaŋla wikčémnala úŋpi, éyaš iháŋgwayiŋ kte šni yeló," eyíŋ na héčhena iyáye. Héčhel eyé, k’éyaš wičháša owótĥaŋla wikčémna yéš, él úŋpi šni. | Thus Abraham kept praying to God for this, therefore finally he said, " If only ten honest men live in the town, I will not destroy it", and immediately he left. Thus he said, but even ten straight men did not live there. |
| 8. Heháŋl oglígle-wakĥáŋ núŋpapi k’uŋ hená waná Sodom él ihúŋnipi, ičhíŋ otĥúŋwahe kiŋ iháŋgyapi kta uŋ. | The two aforesaid sacred messengers now arrived at Sodom, because for that reason they were going to destroy it. |
| 9. Yuŋkĥáŋ Lot waŋwíčhayaŋka čha wičhákičho na iyé thí él wolwíčhayiŋ kte. | Then Lot saw them, and invited them to his house to give them food. |
| 10. Tkĥá heyápi: "Inážiŋ na letáŋ ĥeyáb iyáya yo, oyáŋke kiŋ lé iháŋgyapi kta čha ináĥni iyáya yo!" | But they said, "Get up and go away from here. This place will be destroyed, so hurry and leave". |
| 11. Yuŋkĥáŋ Lot haŋhépi él tĥakóšwičhayiŋ kte čiŋ él wičhá’i na táku waŋ naĥ’úŋ kiŋ hé owíčhakiyake, éyaš óweháŋhaŋ heyá kéčhiŋpi čha anáğoptaŋpi šni. | Then Lot went at night to the men who were to become his sons-in-law and told them what he had heard, but they thought he spoke in fun and so they did not listen to him. |
| 12. Na waná áŋpa, kiŋ heháŋl Oglígle-wakĥáŋ kiŋ Lot yu’ínaĥnipi na heyápi: "Wíŋyaŋ nitĥáwa na ničhíŋča wikĥóškalaka kiŋ nuphíŋ ób iyáya yo. Luĥ’áŋhipi kiŋ,1 níš-eyá nit’ápi kte ló," eyápi na nat’úŋkapi s’eléčheča él napé él wičháyuzapi na héčhena awíčhayapi, otĥúŋwahe kiŋ etáŋhaŋ. | Now it was morning, then the sacred messengers hurried Lot and said, "Leave with your wife and both your daughters! If you don't make haste, you too will all die" and as they hesitated they grasped their hands and immediately led them from the town. |
| 13. "Uŋgná hayéktapi kiló," eyápi, tkĥá Lot tĥawíču wíwahoyapi uŋ anáğoptaŋ šni na hakíkta. Yuŋkĥáŋ tĥaŋčháŋ kiŋ tĥókeča hiŋgní na mniskúya káğiŋ na íŋyaŋ iyéčhel woslá hé. | "Don't you dare look back," they said, but Lot's wife did not listen to that warning and looked back, and then suddenly her body became different and became made of salt and stood upright like rock. |
| 14. Wí hinápĥe eháŋl Segor otĥúŋwahe kiŋ él ihúŋnipi. Eháŋl íŋyaŋ zizí na pĥéta íčhičahiya maĥpíyataŋhaŋ Sodom na Gomorrha otĥúŋwahe kiŋ nuphíŋ awíčhahiŋhiŋ na thípi kiŋ wičháša kĥó oyás’iŋ k’oyéla iháŋgwičhayapi. | The sun came out as they arrived at the town of Segor. Then yellow stones mixed with fire were falling from the sky on both the towns of Sodom and Gomorrah, and the houses and men too were all entirely destroyed. |
| 15. Na otĥúŋwahe úŋpi tkĥá k’uŋ hél blé waŋ yaŋké, k’éyaš mní kiŋ oyátke šíčiŋ na čhaĥlí mná na hoğáŋ él ni’úŋpi okíhipi šni. | And where there used to be towns there was a lake, but the water was bad for drinking and smelt of coal, and fishes could not live in it. |
| 16. Leháŋtu kiŋ "blé t’á ĥpáye kiŋ" ečíyapi. | Up to this day it is called "The Lake that lies Dead" (The Dead Sea) |
Note 1: Luĥ’áŋhipi šni kiŋ; - "If you don't make haste (you will die)" is meant in the text I think, but šni isn't present in the original.
